Co-owners and friends Franz and Michael always shared a great passion for good chocolate. They have experimented with making chocolate since childhood. However, the main inspiration behind chocri did not surface until 2008 when Franz needed to find the perfect gift for his girlfriend’s birthday. After many unsuccessful searches and unsatisfactory ideas, the genius thought struck him – he would decorate a chocolate bar with his girlfriend’s favourite toppings! Considering her very particular taste, he would never be able to find just the right combination in a chocolate shop and neither would she! The final result was a delicious white chocolate bar with gummy bears, dried nuts and fruit. His girlfriend was surprised and very happy about this very unique present. This particular chocolate bar was, if you will, the first chocri bar ever.
Shortly after that first success, one of Franz’s friends asked him to make a customised chocolate bar as a gift for his mother. The story took its course and it was only a matter of time before Franz and then also Michael’s little hobby turned into a real business. On September 1, 2008, www.chocri.de was established online.
Since then much has happened. The business idea was very well received in Germany. A lot of chocolate lovers were fascinated by the idea to be able to create their own chocolate. Hence our fan base grew rapidly. In 2009 we were granted the founders award by one of the biggest German business magazines, the “Wirtschaftswoche”. In 2010 we expanded to the United States & the UK and had to move to a bigger production site to be able to handle the rapidly growing demand. Despite our rapid growth we will carry on to live up to our core values. We will continue to put a lot of care and effort into producing quality premium chocolate to perfectly suit the taste of our customers.
